Welcome to Seattle Chone Figgins
December 4th, 2009 | by nightmare |Angel standout third baseman, Chone Figgins, has agreed to a $36 million dollar 4 year deal with the Seattle Mariners. It looks like we’ll have another exciting player at the top of the lineup. More speed, more defense. I like the commitment to that style of play. We need speed, especially in expansive Safeco field. And Figgins can hit too. His batting average and on percentage were just below .300 and .400 respectively, and the speedster stole 42 bases.
Chone will presumably replace gold glove third baseman Adrian Beltre at the hot corner. I am a huge Chone Figgins fan, and I am happy to welcome him to Seattle. I am also sorry to see Beltre go, although he certainly was overpaid while here. Assuming he does not sign with Seattle (highly unlikely), I wish him the best of luck in the future.
