Chris Shelton Deserves an Opportunity
June 30th, 2009 | by nightmare |With Adrian Beltre out for at least a couple of months, Seattle will be needing a third baseman to play everyday. The Mariners have elected to start Chris Woodward at third. Which is fine. Woodward is batting .385 with the Mariners this year. However, Woodward has never proven himself an excellent player at this level; and he has had a few opportunities.
I am curious whether Manager Wakamatsu is at all considering the idea of bringing Triple A third baseman Chris Shelton up to the Mariners for review. Shelton is posting remarkable numbers with Tacoma: .320 BA, 12 HR, 59 RBI. I hope to perhaps see him in a Seattle Mariners uniform soon. Just a thought. Maybe a good one. Maybe a bad one.
Seattle did win 2 of 3 from the Dodgers and hope to continue their solid play tonight against the Yankees. Currently, New York is leading 3-2 in the 5th.
